The Express Features Box

Each Feature Box on Office Express’ Home Page (except the company box) gives you the ability to “expand” and “collapse” it. There is a Expand/ Collapse button on the right edge each feature box’s heading. If the box is collapsed a “+’ will be in the button. If the box is expanded an “X” will appear in the button.

Notice in the graphic below that the Express Features Box is expanded, exposing it’s options, while the Scheduled Features, System Lists and System Features boxes are collapsed.

Also notice the buttons at the top right of each box. The Express Features button has an “X” while the three collapsed boxes have a “+”.

Expanding and Collapsing these boxes allows you to keep your Office Express window “uncluttered”. You view only the items you need to view and “hide” the unneeded features until you need them.

Also note that Office Express remembers the “state” of all the feature boxes when you exit the software. When you restart Office Express the Home Page will be brought back to the exact same “state” as when you exited.

As shown in the graphic above, the Express Features Box contains three options, Express Complete Work, Express Transactions and Express Scheduling. These features will be briefly discussed here. For an in-depth explanation of any feature, click on the link for that feature.

1. Express Complete Work— The Complete work feature is the back-bone of the system. Using this feature you can quickly tag scheduled jobs as being done. NOTE: To use this feature you must have already scheduled work for your customers. When you “tag” a job as done, it is ready to be printed on a bill when you choose to print your bills. Jobs you tag as completed can be viewed from the Customers Page.

2. Express Transactions— This is another of Office Express’ “time saver” features. It allows you to enter many items into your customers transactions file at once. These items can be payments, discounts and work you completed that you didn’t schedule. The advantage of Express Transactions is you don’t have to go customer-to-customer to enter transactions. You can enter transactions for as many customers as you want all at once. For example, if you needed to post ten checks from ten different customers the Express Transactions feature is the way to go. Enter all ten checks at once and Office Express will post all ten at the same time, updating each customer’s balance correctly.

 3. Express Scheduling— The Express Scheduling Feature works much like Express Transactions only you will be working with customers who are scheduled to receive a job. For example, when you schedule jobs by customer, you can schedule many jobs for that customer, one customer at a time. With Express Scheduling you choose a single job, like lawn maintenance, and schedule all the customers you want to receive lawn maintenance. You can change all scheduling information for any customer, such as price, job code, tax code, etc. This feature is ideal before your season begins if you need to “tweak” the price of many customers at once, for example.
