OFFICE EXPRESS HELP ASSISTANT

Professional Software for Professionals

Enabling Password Protection

Office Express allows you to protect your data from prying eyes. By enabling password protection a valid password will be required to gain access to the software.

You can define as many users as  you choose, each with their own unique password. You can also define what features each user can have access to.

Owner and Guest Users

There are two types of users in Office Express: Owner and Guest. Users with Owner privileges have access to all features of the program while the Guest users have limited access to features.

There must always be at least one user classified as the owner defined. You may have multiple users with owner privileges though but you will not be able to delete the last owner. You can have as many guest users as you want or you can delete all the guest users.

Changing User Access

1. click the View menu from the main menu at the top of the screen.

2. click the Edit System Settings option.

3. click the User Access button at the top right of the System Settings dialog box.

To turn on password protection click on the box in front of  Use the Office Express User Password Features? located to the top right of the dialog box. When you click on this box a checkmark will be placed in the box and a message will be displayed alerting you that password protection is now enabled and you will need to exit and restart Office Express for the change to take effect.

Restart Office Express and go back to the dialog box as described above.

NOTE: The default passwords are Owner and Guest for the two default users. Passwords are case-sensitive and must be typed exactly.

Now you'll notice that you can now add and delete users as the buttons along the bottom left are now enabled.

From here you simply move to a user in the left panel and click on the options in the right panel that you want this user to have access to.

To give a user Owner privileges, simply highlight the user in the left panel and click the "Does this User have Owner Privileges?" box.
